House Concert host guide 🎶
An intimate evening of music, stories & connection
I'm so excited to bring live music into your home! House concerts are one of my favorite ways to perform because they create something you don't always get in a traditional venue: an intimate space to really listen, connect, and experience the stories behind the songs.
Here's everything you need to know to help make the evening relaxed, easy, and special.
What to Expect
This is a 60-minute listening-room style concert featuring a mix of original music, familiar covers, storytelling, and a little behind-the-music conversation along the way.
Rather than background music for a party or gathering, the concert itself is the main event. During the performance, guests should be seated and ready to listen—although singing along, laughing, responding, and connecting with the music are absolutely encouraged!
Food, drinks, conversation, and mingling are wonderful before and after the show.
Setting Up Your Space
You don't need a stage or a fancy setup! A living room, backyard, patio, or other comfortable gathering space can work beautifully.
Please:
Arrange seating so guests can comfortably see the performance area.
Choose an area where I can set up with a little space around me for my guitar and equipment.
Minimize distractions during the concert when possible.
If children or pets will be present, consider whether they'll be comfortable during a 60-minute listening-style performance.
If we're outdoors, please have a backup plan in case of weather.
Chairs don't all have to match—dining chairs, folding chairs, couches, floor cushions, etc. can all be part of the setup. The goal is simply to create a cozy space where everyone can settle in and enjoy the show.
Sound & Power
For smaller indoor gatherings, I may be able to perform acoustically depending on the space.
For outdoor concerts, I'll bring a PA system. I'll just need access to a standard power outlet nearby. An extension cord may also be helpful depending on the location of the performance area.
When I'll Arrive
I'll plan to arrive approximately 30 minutes before the concert begins to bring in my equipment, get situated, tune, and do a quick sound check if needed.
If possible, please have the performance area and guest seating mostly set up before I arrive so we can keep setup simple.
During the Concert
Once the show begins, we'll treat the space much like a tiny listening room.
I invite guests to settle in, put phones away or on silent, and give themselves permission to simply be present for the music. There will be moments to sing along, laugh, hear the stories behind original songs, and experience some familiar favorites in a more intimate way.
And yes—photos and short videos are welcome! I just ask that guests remain mindful of the listening experience for everyone else.
